Purple mountains majesty! The early morning light turns the Grand Teton Mountains purple for a few moments.
It was our last day in Wyoming. We had finished up our backcountry hike around the Grand Teton the day before and decided to spend our final day exploring and relaxing in the town of Jackson Hole. But before all that I knew I had to go photograph one more sunrise. My destination was a place called Schwabachers Landing. We woke up before dawn, which my body hated me for doing, and drove to our destination. Because I was a little slow moving that morning we got there a little bit later than I planned but still a good bit of time before the sunrise. However, I was surprised to already see a large crowd of photographers already there. I completely underestimated on my part and it made getting a spot tricky. Lucky, I managed to squeeze into a few spots. It was really a great spot for a sunrise; I can see see why it's so popular. By the the time I had taken this photo, I had seen several examples of alpenglow, but the mountains had always turned red or orange before. This was the first time I had seen it purple.
