It was a rainy and overcast day at the Búðir Church, a small single room black church, alongside the rocky coastline in Iceland. Búðir is the name of the small hamlet that the church resides.
It was sometime around 3am when we landed in Iceland. After a short nap in the car we immediately went north towards the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Along the way we would pull over and quickly admire the beautifully rugged Icelandic landscape, but the first prolonged stop we had was in front of this small black church, along the coast. Iceland is full of these quaint small churches and over the years this one has become a bit of an icon and after seeing so many pictures of it I was excited to finally see it with my own eyes. As we walked around the church and the rugged coastline I noticed that wind had started to pick up and soI looked up to see dark clouds being blown in from the sea. The whole thing set a mood of ambiance which I was grateful for. I came to Iceland to get out of my stagnant everyday life and having moments like this really helped rejuvenate my spirits.
