I was driving through Cades Cove in Great Smoky Mountains National Park when suddenly I hit some heavy traffic. It turns out that a mother black bear and her cub were hanging out close to the roadside. We pulled over and watched her from a distance, it was my first time seeing a black bear in the wild. She was great mother keeping her cub safe and well hidden in the forest brush. After a couple of minutes, I pulled my camera out and snapped a series of photos then I quietly slid back to my car and continued on. Also, thank you to the ranger who was keeping people from getting too close!
