Cyanotypes

Cyanotypes, also known as ‘blue prints’ is an old 19th century photo process. Chemistry is mixed together and hand coated on the paper. Then U.V light, like the sun, is used to expose the image. Instead of silver salts like most film and other darkroom processes use, cyanotypes are made with iron salts which gives it that distinct blue color. I Also use botanical toners to change the colors of the prints.

Incorporating brush strokes, hand made templates and other methods are my experimentation to push the boundaries and blur the lines of what can be considered photography.
